Default interior areas too dark

Hi,

I'm a newbie at using the toolset and I'm having a problem creating interior areas. When I bring up the area, it's all black with the red lines showing the blocks. When I go to add a tile, I can hardly see the tile at all. I've tried changing the tint and color and it's still way too dark to see what I'm doing. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there an option to add lighting?

Thanks for any help,

basspumpkins

Hiya Basspumpkins! You've come to the right place, there are various people here that can help you with any problems you might encounter in the toolkit.

This is how it should normally look.

First off, a screenshot of your toolkit when the area is to dark might be usefull if any of the below things don't work.

Second, I think by default the 'fog' option is on. See if turning that off helps anything. Also, try changing the day/night option to get better lightning. (see image for help)

Third, there is indeed an option to place lights if needed. You can find them in the lower right corner under the 'Blueprints' tab. Then go to lightning and place a default one into the area. You can change the colors (diffuse color will have most effect) of it, and option to let it flicker or not in the properties. Again, for help see the image.

If any of this doesn't help, there might be a technical problem or simply something I overlooked as well. Be sure to give us a screenshot if things don't work out.

Greets, Sicar

I finally got it. I had to change the "Has Directional Light?" area property to True so I could see what I was doing. I can take it away later if I want to have it not be as bright in game.

Strange, that should've been on 'True' by default. At least it is here, but then again, I mingle to much with everything anyway. Thanks for sharing the answer with us, and feel free to ask anything else.

I've got the same problem, but my directional light option was already true. I've turned off fog and that doesn't help. I tried the daylight options as well and they didn't work. Then I tried placing a light, and it's just a red ball in the lower left corner and I cannot seem to move it, nor does it light anything up.

Screenshot is here:

Ok, I resized it, but it's not quite as clear now.

Keln, Can you please replace that pic with a smaller one? Thanks.
