Note: To prevent any confusion, I've updated the current descriptions for the duskblade, doomguide and swashbuckler to indicate that they are AT THE PRESENT TIME based entirely on PnP sourcebook information. When the final descriptions are available, I'll remove the disclaimers.

Playable race confirmed - Yuan-ti pureblood

Crating system changes: According to Gamespot, Storm of Zehir will also introduce a new crafting system that will let you create many items simply by using your inventory screen without having to visit a blacksmith. (Gamespot didn't actually see this in action, so details are a bit sketchy at the moment).

6 member party - According to Matthew Rorie, "the plan is for the sixth slot to be unlocked if you have the Leadership feat". Matthew wasn't sure about that and was waiting for a developer to confirm.

Will MotB be required to run SOZ? According to Rob McGinnis, NWN2 will be required, but right now SOZ will NOT require MotB. However, not having MotB will deprive you of the content added in that expansion.

New Information from Annie Carlson of OEI from questions posed by cely of the Neversummer Realms forums:
  • There will definitely be three new tilesets and perhaps four. (Note: This contradicts earlier information we had that indicated that there would be FIVE tilesets. Perhaps things got scaled down?)
  • One of the new tilesets is a fusion of Indonesian and Moroccan architecture.
  • The Overland Map graphics have been optimized so that you can have quite large Overland Maps.
  • New item icons.
  • New clothing, robes, etc.
  • Dinosaur Companions!

Cohorts will each have their own new voice sets.

Also, we decided to allow the party to have more than 2 cohorts. Now you can replace any player created party member with a cohort, except for the one you started the campaign with. So you could have up to 5 cohorts in the party (with the Leadership feat - 4 without).

Not unless there has been a huge tear in the fabric of the space-time continuum.

September 19, 2008 has always occured before November 18, 2008 even in those odd Mayan calendars. Even if Obsidian / Atari don't have the DRM ready for the upcoming patch (oh brother, would the naysayers on the Bio forums go WILD!) there is still one more patch to go before MoW would fall AFTER SoZ.

Correction:

The Insightful Strike Feat description for the Swashbuckler class has now been changed as follows:

Insightful Strike: A swashbuckler applies her Intelligence bonus (if any) as a bonus on damage rolls (in addition to any Strength bonus she may have) with any light weapon, as well as with any other weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse, such as a rapier, whip, or spiked chain. Targets immune to sneak attacks or critical hits are immune to the swashbuckler's insightful strike. A swashbuckler cannot use this ability when wearing medium or heavy armor or when carrying a medium or heavy load.

The description written by Skip Williams on the wizards site - is apparently incorrect . It contradicts information in the Complete Warrior handbook and the crystal keep open source material.

Latest update (October 24th) is now available:

Doomguide description is NOW official.

Highlights:
  • 11 available cohorts including:
    • Beleuth (rogue)
    • Inshula (ranger?)
    • Septimus (Cleric and doomguide)
    • Ribsmasher (monk)
    • Umoja (a druid)
  • 40 new spells
  • 90+ new feats including:
    • new Heritage-type feats, such as the new Draconic, Fiendish and Fey Heritage Feats
    • 25 new class and racial abilities
    • new teamwork benefit feats such Improved Camp Routine, which reduces the chance of monsters ambushing you while resting on the Overland Map.
  • over 100 new magic items.

Here are a few examples of the magic items:

The Adventurer’s Guide – Players will find this useful tome early on in the game. In addition to containing a great deal of information to help you learn the how to be an adventurer in the dangerous Forgotten Realms, it also grants a small bonus to Survival and Lore to those who possess it.

The Belt of Growth – Allows the player to cast enlarge person on himself once per day. An ideal item if you want your gnome rogue to see eye to eye with a yuan-ti abomination.

Eyepatch of the Great Sea Corsair – Gives the player +5 to spot checks and can cast see invisibility once per day. (Great for the overland map as well as dealing with pesky, disappearing wizards).

Patch and Installation information:

SoZ will be called game version 1.20. This release will include the authentication system that was determined to be a pre-requisite by Atari before Mysteries of Westgate could be released. Last I heard from Atari’s QA department, everything should be ready for MoW with the release of Storm of Zehir.

There will be an update to version 1.21 on the day this new expansion releases in order to update all of the clients with Neverwinter Nights 2 installed that don’t have the new expansion. This will bring all installations up to version 1.21.

The next update after 1.21 will be released sometime in the next few months and will be referred to as 1.22. There’s a number of exciting changes planned for the 1.22 update, but we’ll wait until its contents are a more definite thing before going into much detail on them.

There were a few other odds and ends, and some additional details on the crafting system. I've added most of those to the SoZ FAQ. (last update was on the 25th)

Yes, you can customize cohorts on level-up just like any other party member. They each have their own unique packages so if you don't want to hassle with leveling up all of your cohorts, you can just choose the "Recommend" options.

new to guild and such sorry for putting new thread but was wondering if someone can help me out, i went into portal to crossroad keep and game dropped out, anyway to fix it?
