High DC Cleric Idea (WP 2, BG 3, C 23...

Hi,
idea is to make party friendy character. (PVM, maybe PVP rogue killer)
pump all to wisdom, high implosion cleric

Blackguard 3 for -2 to enemy saving throw
warpriest 2 for -1 to enemy saving throw
cleric 23 for bonus feat (with practiced caster 27)

last 2 level
either divine champion 2 for add 1 to wisdom
fighter 2 for 2 feats
monk 2 for evasion and armor class, listen skill, tumble skill

i need feedback for
1) the domain i should take for caster cleric (PVM or PVP)
2) and which class should i level in for the last 2 level.
3) wat is the highest dc implosion with +12 wisdom item

Looks a good idea. I'd go Divine Champion I think for the Great Wisdom (and no XP worries). Let's say you go Aasimar. That means a starting Wis of 20. 7 level increases, 5 Epic Feats, 1 bonus Cleric Epic Feat and the DC Feat get you to 34. Add your +12 (!!) item and that's 46.

As for Domains, for PvP I would suggest Knowledge, to get Clairaudience/Clairvoyance. If Haste items are not available Time is a good Pick. Otherwise Luck will be quite nice (I presume you are going to take Spellcasting Prodigy as your "starter" level 1 Feat). I might be tempted by Cold to get the Polar Ray spell with a high DC.

With DC & BG classes there's some point in boosting Cha as well (Saves) - which is the reason for Aasimar.

thanks for reply. I choose divine champion as your advice
and tried to get a buddy to test with me with his PVP rogue build.
i think dc is should be
10 +
9 (spell level) +
3 (implosion bonus) +
1 (spell prodigy)+
3 (- enemy saving throw from black guard, warpriest) +
2 (greater spell focus evocation) +
2 (epic cleric level 27 with practice caster bonus)
16 ( 42 wisdom with + 8 stat item) +
46 (total)

He politely refused saying my spell DC based char build is a waste of time....
Apparently he said his PVP rogue has about fortitute saves of about 40 too....
due to 3 item of resistence +8 which he explain will stak
(+ 24 to saving but due to saving throw cap, will be +20 )...

+ 20 (item)
+ 3 (spell craft )
+ 6 (14 con attribute bonus with + 8 stat item)
+ 13 (his pvp rogue based saving throw)
42 (total)


He even said it is lousy for PVM too.. except maybe hitting with zen archery
cleric domain for PVM is not very good.
Domain Air for chain lighting = normal blade barrier
Domain Cold for Polar Ray (weak choice due to waste slot for implosion)
Other domains suck...

It's true that items stack, which is why +8 to save items are not usually found in PWs that specilialize in PvP. Which PW is this? HiPSters would certainly be better than Clerics on such a PW, regardless of their build, due to the way that HiPS works in NWN2.

PvM, it probably won't work against bosses on PWs. Aside from that it very much depends on the PW.

It would work fine in the campaigns.

Concerning domains for a caster cleric:
You should consider water, which gives you "Ice Storm" at lvl 5.
It will be the one excellent spell without a save dealing cold damage which is rare for a cleric and not to mentioned the damage output is not level capped.
It's quite a decent choice for a caster in my opinion.

Water also gives you the Evasion Feat, so that seems a good suggestion.

ya.. but ice storm offer no save and is level 5 spell for cleric.

I think saving throw stacking is so unfair.
Excluding DM favourite group with greater enchancements items,
Any player can stack like meduium magic item likes 4 ring of +5 saving throw to reach the +20 cap...

It makes the divine champion class unpopular too... I mean 10 levels for +5 to saving throws... It makes me shiver now when I saw a build yesterday on some forum. I think it was fighter 20 , divine champion 10.

It also limits the current spells in the game used vs player to IGMS or bigby or ranged touch spells. It's like bigby should be the most powerful and popular mage in the forgotten realms, even greater than eliminister.


Thanks anyway, I think i try to make a self-concealment (IV) character that is not so sucky next.

How about Strength Domain? It gives you Divine Power(3) so you can have PERSISTENT Divine Power
