Sad Changing install dir. by itself?

Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but here goes. I installed NWN2 and played it nonstop for several weeks, and then decided to take a break from it and play something else, so took the DVD out to play the other game using the DVD drive. Fine.

However when I decided to slip the DVD back in the drive it came up with this message:

"I'm sorry, it doesn't look like I'm in the Neverwinter Nights 2 install directory. Please put me back, or re-install Neverwinter Nights 2."

I checked the .ini and it seemed that it was looking at the E: (which doesn't actually exist!), so rectified this and it continued to play fine.

Now everytime I play another game in my DVD drive it does the above when I put the NWN2 DVD back in. Fine, because I can fix it, but just a bit irritating that it happens. Has this happenned to anyone else? Any way of rectifying this?

It tell's you it is sorry? polite computer you got there. lol umm Have you ran a virus scan maybe? Sounds wierd to me. Run a check disk as all. See if you have some bad sector files, clusters etc.

You may just have a simple file error or currupt file. Check all the possibilities though

good luck and post back letting us know how it goes.

Regards
Liso

Oh yes, I've done all the virus scanning and such (I'm quite fastidious about such things). Its the actual NWN2 launcher which gives that error. Its just strange because its fine playing it for weeks and weeks, but this only seems to happen when I take the DVD out to play something else.

Though I should add that it still works if I open NWN2.exe or nwloader.exe, but won't if I open NWN2launcher.exe so it is obviously just this file that is associated with nwn.ini (the one that changes) - its just a strange thing to be wrong, its not as if the file is FUBAR, it just one letter that changes!

I'll see if reinstalling fixes it, but will wait until the weekend to do that as I'm lazy

Maybe it is because of the updates? the patches. It could change the launcher and not the disk itself?
